Getting a card graded costs from $17 to $59.99 a card at the cheapest open service of the big grading companies, plus return shipping. CGC is cheapest at $17 if you send at least 25 cards, or $20 for fewer. SGC charges $50, PSA $59.99, Beckett $79.95, and TAG $149 while its cheaper services are paused. Faster service and more valuable cards cost more. Below are every company’s current prices, what changed recently, and what else you’ll pay.

“Card value” is the most your card can be worth after grading for that price. Declare what you think the graded card will sell for. If it comes back worth more than the service allows, most companies move it up to the right service and charge the difference.

PSA grading prices

PSA is the biggest grader, and a PSA slab usually sells for the most. Its cheapest service is Standard at $59.99, for cards worth up to $1,000. The cheaper Value services have been paused since June 2026 while PSA works through a backlog. If a card grades higher than your service allows, PSA moves just that card up and bills you the difference, and tells you first.

What else you’ll pay

  • Return shipping. PSA charges $19.99 to send back up to four cards worth up to $2,000 in total, with insurance and a signature. Other companies charge similar amounts.
  • Shipping to the grader. Use tracking and, for valuable cards, insurance. How to ship cards for grading covers packing and insurance limits.
  • Upcharges. If a card is worth more than your service allows, expect to pay the difference to the right service.
  • Autographs. Grading the card and authenticating an autograph together costs more. At PSA, that service starts at $79.99.

Is it worth paying to grade?

Only if the graded card is likely to sell for more than the card plus everything above. For most cards under about $25, it isn’t. Our grading calculator works it out for your card, and we ran 22 popular cards through the numbers at PSA’s $59.99 price.
